THE DAMAGE OF COVID 19 MYTHS

AAs South  Africans we entered a situation that was and still is beyond our control as it started last year 26 March 2020 whereby as country we were on lockdown for 21 days at first but due to rapid increase in it the lockdown was extended, it was due to coronavirus that was discovered in China 2019. At first people did believe that coronavirus is real and that it kills without mercy but that did not stay long as myths started that covid 19 was made up by the Government.

Coronavirus has killed thousands of people for the past year but still people think its fake and most of them have made up their minds that it is fake. The reason for them to believe this is because all the fake stories they get around from social media also by hearing people talking about it. At first there was a rumor that covid 19 is here because our own Government sold us working in hands with the American Government, there was even a video which was made up where by the President of America is speaking saying covid 19 is for decreasing the population in South Africa because there is no use for South Africans all they know is giving birth to many children while living in poverty. The Government tried to fix that case by making sure in news they show how many cases we have due to covid 19 but it was not enough for people to believe. The Government then gave out mask to people to use as one of the ways to prevent this virus, another myth started saying those masks are manufactured from China people should not take them when given to them from clinics as they are made to finish what coronavirus has started which was absolutely not true. The  Government gave out regulations to be followed when you are being exposed to the public which is to keep social distance, wear your mask and always sanitise  your hands avoid touching people because the coronavirus is transmitted by touching people and being near them, but as always people did not take that into consideration cause you will find them not wearing mask or not doing social distancing which then increased the number of people dying due to covid 19. It became worse when these myths reached the ears of people living in rural areas because it is easy to make them believe anything as they are not exposed to technology as people in the cities so whatever that comes to them first they believe that without hesitation so when they get symptoms of coronavirus they did not think its the virus because they believed its fake so it was hard for them to get help they need early.

In the news they then showed about one million graves being made but they did not state what they were made for or are they even graves, within a split second another myth was created saying one million people are needed to die so that the goal of decreasing population will be achieved the government knows why those graves were dug. People believed it without hearing the President giving speech or any evidence being given out, this also increased the number of people dying due to covid 19 also some people avoided symptoms when they experienced them instead they will make jokes about it which leaded to people around that particular person being infected as well. There was a video on YOUTUBE where by one of the South Africans rapper named Kiernan Jarryd Forbes ( A.K.A) was coughing, people then starting saying through social media that he was paid by the WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION ( WHO) to come out about his condition so that people would believe covid 19 is real so this proves that "their assumption are true" covid 19 is fake which was totally WRONG!!!, there was no proof of what they talking about. It is time people start looking at this covid 19 situation at a different perspective of life, honestly if they think it the Government doings they should ask themselves these questions: What will the Government gain by doing this?, Is it worth it?, because honestly this has nothing to do with it and if it was the Government they will have never bothered by looking out for help in other countries, made sure people are safe or took out the soldiers to come and monitor peoples movement during lockdown. Coronavirus is real and as South African it time we started taking action in making sure we are safe also stop believing in news from social media without proof.

It start by us that are exposed to social media in making sure we do not take fake news and also by teaching our elders to not believe stories they hear from people about covid 19 but they should listen to news from television or from health care facilities because they know better. They say " charity begins at home " meaning we should start by our own families in making sure they believe only the truth from the government about coronavirus. IT STARTS WITH ME IN ENDING THOSE MYTHS.
